You might be aware that about 97% of all
children's story authors do not get a chance to
see their stories get to market. We would like to change that,
by putting the power of choice back into the customers
hands. We welcome authors from

We are continually on the look out for
appealing children's picture books that meet our
primary focus - stories that have clear life
lessons for our target young audience - ages one
through eight years.
How it works
- Submit a story synopsis featuring
clear life lessons. Story synposis submissions
can be sent to submissions@keenowl.com. All submission
are confidential. We will contact you if we have
questions or need more information.
- If accepted (per requirements below), we license the story and/
or illustrations from you (or the appropriate
copyright holders).
- Your storybook is entered into the catalog, and we let the market
decide. Whenever customers purchase your story, you get a
percentage of the sales price!
Primary Requirements
- Story language - Currently we are
only accepting stories in US or Commonwealth
English. We do
plan to offer stories in multiple languages,
so please feel free to let us know more about
you and your story (including the language) be
sending us an email at author@keenowl.com. We
will contact you once we begin offer KeenOwl.com
services in countries that support your language.
- Life lessons - Your story needs to clearly
be centered around one or more life lessons appropriately
woven into the storyline. We dont prescribe any specific set
of life lessons, but most of the authors we work
with bring their own personal experience as parents,
caregivers, grandparents and teachers to bear
on their storylines. We will work closely with child
experts, parents and teachers to review your
story and it life lessons.
- Copyrights - You need to hold the
copyright to your story text. We
respect the spirit of creative originality that
drives most authors and will require your contract
with us to explicitly assure us of your copyright
ownership.
If you have already published this story through other imprint
publishers (or have a contract with them), then
please ensure your current contract allows you
to publish with others. Since KeenOwl Books offers personalized
life lesson stories, and allows for custom information
like the child's name, hometown, parents names
etc to be integrated into the storyline where
approprite, the resulting story text a customer
recieves will be different from the original published

- Illustrations - In the interest of
time to market, we prefer you already have a
partnership with an illustrator who can bring
your story to life. If
not, we can put you in touch with freelance illustrators
that you can select from. Though KeenOwl will have some say
in the look and feel of the stories we publish,
we do nurture the creative process and encourage
authors to take the lead in creating supporting illustrations
for their storylines.
